Monitoring HIV-1 Resistance across the Globe

چکیده
0268 Bernard Cazelles and colleagues looked at the details of the relationship between dengue incidence and El Niño in Thailand. Their results, based on complex mathematical analysis, do not provide easy answers for those who might want to plan for dengue outbreaks, though they do go some way to helping to understand the complex interplay between the various factors. In essence, the researchers found that there was a signifi cant association between El Niño oscillations, climate variables, and dengue hemorrhagic fever incidence with a 2to 3-year repeat, for both Bangkok and the rest of Thailand. However this association was signifi cant only for the years 1986–1992, and outside these years factors other than climate were probably responsible for triggering the disease outbreaks.

Occurrence of transmitted HIV-1 drug resistance among Drug-naïve pregnant women in selected HIV-care centres in Ghana.
BACKGROUND Access to antiretroviral therapy in Ghana has been scaled up across the country over the last decade. This study sought to determine the occurrence of transmitted HIV-1 drug resistance in pregnant HIV-1 positive women yet to initiate antiretroviral therapy at selected HIV Care Centres in Ghana. METHODS Plasma specimens from twenty-six (26) HIV seropositive pregnant women who were l...
متن کاملDrug resistance in the HIV-1-infected paediatric population worldwide: a systematic review.
BACKGROUND Drug resistance monitoring of the paediatric HIV-1-infected population is required to optimize treatment success and preserve future treatment options. OBJECTIVES To explore the current knowledge of HIV drug resistance (HIVDR) in naive and pretreated HIV-1-infected paediatric populations across diverse settings and sampling time periods. METHODS PubMed database screened until May...
متن کاملEvaluation of Lamivudine Resistance Mutations in HBV/HIV Co-infected Patients
Background and Objective: The drug resistance mutations are key elements in the failure of long-term treatment of Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections. The mutation in the YMDD motif in the P gene of HBV is the most critical factor in antiviral drug (especially lamivudine) resistance. This study aimed to assess the YMDD motif and other polymerase gene mutati...
متن کاملHIV-1 drug resistance mutations among antiretroviral-naive HIV-1-infected patients in Asia: results from the TREAT Asia Studies to Evaluate Resistance-Monitoring Study.
Of 682 antiretroviral-naïve patients initiating antiretroviral therapy in a prospective, multicenter human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) drug resistance monitoring study involving 8 sites in Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Thailand, the prevalence of patients with ≥1 drug resistance mutation was 13.8%. Primary HIV drug resistance is emerging after rapid scaling-up of antiretroviral therapy use...
متن کاملTransmitted drug resistance in recently infected HIV-positive Individuals from four urban locations across Asia (2007–2010) – TASER-S
BACKGROUND The availability of HIV antiretroviral therapy (ART) has been associated with the development of transmitted drug resistance-associated mutations (TDRM). TDRM can compromise treatment effectiveness in patients initiating ART and the prevalence can vary in different clinical settings. In this study, we investigated the proportion of TDRM in treatment-naïve, recently infected HIV-posit...
